WHERE ARE YOU GUYS GOING?

WHERE ARE YOU GUYS GOING?

When our two-and-a-half-year-old granddaughter Stevie called, my husband and I were in the car. I answered, as I tend to do, “Hello Stevie! It’s Grandma.” I followed with the usual, “Do you want to see Zaidie (Grandpa)?”

I learned to ask without her request and quickly turned the camera to showcase my husband at the wheel, since that’s who she wants to see each time she calls. Just as relaxed as she could be, she asked, “Where are you guys going?”

“You guys?!” Out of the mouths of babes! Three was always my favorite age, when a child truly becomes a communicator. I just upped that to age two for our grandchildren.

As in so many changes in the world, there’s been a change in the relationships with long-distance grandparenting. We’ve become “FaceTime friends” with our five precious grandchildren.

Now, we’re referred to as “You guys,” and we love it. We just want all our grandchildren to know that wherever we go, we think of them and will love them wherever we are.
