MAIL ORDER TO THE RESCUE

MAIL ORDER TO THE RESCUE

It’s not a hop, skip, and a jump to our children and grandchildren. Even if it were, my husband and I were not in a condition to hop, skip, or jump on our grandson’s 6th birthday in July.

Our eldest son and his family live in Ohio. For our grandson Dizzy’s 6th birthday, we couldn’t get there because his Zaidy (Grandpa) Arnee was healing from back surgery and my Baker’s Cyst and resulting hematoma in my leg had me out of commission. But I told our little guy the presents could still get there. ;-)

He was disappointed that we couldn’t come to Ohio for his birthday this year as we usually do, and we were just as sad not to be there. When I asked him what he wanted for his birthday, he thought about it and said, “a Pokémon stuffy.”

When I went online to search for that, I found some, but better yet, I found a big Pokémon pillow. After watching him open the presents he received from his friends at his party, the first one being a Pokémon stuffy, I was happy with our decision to go with the pillow. With luck, that plush pillow arrived right in time for his birthday!

Now, when our precious Dizzy sleeps with his Pokémon pillow, he can think about how much Grandma and Zaidy love him. Soon, he’ll snuggle on the Pokémon sheets that were on backorder.*

When he gets to New Jersey, there may just be a fun new toy added to the celebration. Plus, of course, something for his big sister and little brother. This time, the joys of grand-parenting were aided by mail order and FaceTime.

FaceTime had to work overtime on Dizzy’s 6th birthday. After he called to thank us for the pillow, and his birthday card, which also arrived timely, we got notice that his first tooth came out. Grandma had to take an upfront look!

Dizzy lost his first baby tooth on his 6th birthday!

Three days later, tooth #2 was out! And his second teeth had already broken through! All before the sheets arrived!

*Yay! The sheets arrived!! (Full disclosure: blanket add-on not from us)
